    How to?? Sponsons

So, worx sponsons are on the way for the hurricane.

What will we need to do to get the sponson mounts anchored to the hull?? We know where to mount them, but I have no clue what needs to be done.

Decided we would get them figured out before we send it off to get the fresh paint. Don't wanna screw up a nice new paint job!

Thanks AL! The worst part is, I remember stumbling through that thread before!

Which "series" and what size do you think we should use?
And did they have a installation tool for these guys we would need, anyone?
    http://www.avkfasteners.com/products.php#

    Thinkin' maybe the AP series.

I wonder if the hole will have to be drilled completely through the hull. If that's the case, I think we may remove the foam in the area (if we can) and try to make it all sealed up.

    Found the tools....

I'm understanding their product better now. Drill hole, insert the fastener, then bolt/nut/wrenches for the install. I think anywho.

I'm finding that alot of nut/bolt stores carry the avk stuff, so i'm gonna check with my local place tomorrow to see if they carry them.

Ok, we got the fasteners from Mcmaster.

We got aluminum AL series 5/16x 18

Requires 17/32 drill to install.......seems big!! I was just goin on size by what was pictured with the polaris kit.

Can't remember what size we got as far as gripping range, I know it's the bigger of two.

Do these sound like they will work for us???

    I'll try and dig up a part#

I just picked one up off my garage floor. LOL
That's about right, check the hole through the sponson and make sure your bolt that comes with the inserts will fit. I remember it's roughly an 8mm hole.

    Say again?

The bolt size the insert will take is 5/16 -18 Or are you talking the bolt on the tool that installs the insert being long enough?

We didnt get mounting bolts with the inserts....we just got inserts and the install tool. We will pick up stainless bolts for installing the sponson mounts.

I'm just nervous about drilling 17/32 holes in the hull, and hoping the inserts will seal and or work

Hopefully the sponsons showed up today so we can either twiddle our thumbs or get crazy tonite.

Do a practice run on some material of the same thickness to get a feel for how the tool and inserts work. If you over squeeze them they get f ed up. And if you under squeeze them they will spin.
