    Will my trailer work?

Right now I've got a 2002 Polaris Virage with a blown engine sitting on a Karavan WC-900-46-S trailer. The Polaris is 10ft. I'm getting ready to purchase a 2013 Sea Doo 155 Limited(11ft). Will my trailer work for the new ski or will I need to buy a new one?

The Karavan is 12'5" from hitch to tail lights I believe, and the polaris sits about 4-5 inches past the tail lights.

    How old is that trailer?

What is the trailer's weight rating?

    I believe it's a 2000-2002 and it's rated for 900

That ski is listed at 755 pounds dry

Yea I know I'm mainly talking about length. Is the ski too long?

You want the rear of the bunks to extend out beyond the rear of the hull a little, or at least extend far enough back to support the vertical rise of the transom or hull step. This prevents the bunk ends from pressing upwards on the bottom of the hull and potential deforming or stressing the hull near where the bunks end.

You also need the winch and bow roller to be far enough forward to allow the tongue weight to be correct. If the trailer design will not allow the hull to sit far enough forward then the tongue weight may be too light, which may cause weird trailer handling at speed or during sudden manoeuvres.

My take is that putting an 11 foot long hull on a trailer that is only 20 inches longer is not optimal, especially if the new hull will be hanging way out beyond the bunk supports.

Or adjust the axle back to give a heavier tongue weight. I personally prefer a tongue weight of around 15%. If you do any adjusting on the axle make sure moth sides get moved the same distance and check for trueness with the coupler before and after tightening the U-bolts.

Consider how far down the ramp you will have to go to launch the ski...

Dealer went ahead and quoted me for $800 for a new one. I know I can get one cheaper used, but I'm going ahead and getting this one to avoid the hassle of my small one.

Good call. Not worth taking the chance of a failure of old trailer with a nice ski on it
