Yamaha Lifting Sling
Looking for a lifting sling for a Yamaha, specifically to lift my GPR. Must be in good condition without any fraying on the straps.

whatever you do, cut the straps off you sling and replace them with chains and grade 8 bolts. Change bolts yearly
For an explanation, read up on static vs. dynamic loads.
I nearly dropped a fully loaded fx ( 800 pounds+) on a 1000 pound rated sling couple of years ago when I was less then kind with an electric winch ( my bad)..The rig bounced a bit and one of the straps webbing started to let go.
The bounce of the load likely ran the perceived weight over 1200 pounds for an instant..and that's all it takes to have an accident..and to be blunt..a ski on a lifting sling is an accident waiting to happen.
I was lifting a Polaris 1200 out of my tank last year when the side railing ( where the sling rail fits on) let go. Very poor quality repair was discovered. The ski had obviously sideswiped a dock at one time and while the repair looked good..so does paper mache. I have a look at that area now on tank lifts..not going to make that mistake again.
These days I run a chain under the hull as a last chance before lifting anything over 500 pounds
Keep in mind that gas weighs in at 7 pounds a gallon when you do calculations for trailer loading etc.
3 full five gallon jugs+ a full load of fuel on two skis can add hundreds to your tongue weight.
