Thread: carbon seal?

I've been reading a lot about his carbon seal. I have on 08 RXP-X with 160 hrs on it. The carbon seal has never been replaced. Is it a fly to fail part? is there any way to look at it and tell it's about to fail? I can't even find it on the parts diagram can anyone point me in the right direction?

They usually dont really fail completely, sometimes they get hairline cracks in them....you could check it for those. If it`s not leaking then there`s nothing wrong with it. Iv`e read somewhere on the forum here about some guys changing this out every year, for peace of mind. If it`s not badly worn id just leave it.....but it`s entirely up to you
