i know it is only Nov. and the spring is far away....but im just frustrated with the air intake situation.....i really liked taking the air intake to the front compartment and i even like jerry's design of taking it a shorter route out the back, but i ride in the ocean a lot and dont want to suck in water. im in college now and i have been thinking and brainstoriming ideas for this and even draw diagrams in class and i just can't come up with the best idea....if anyone has any thoughts on this let me know....i know this has been talked about a lot but im just frustrated at this point, Justin

i'm in the EXACT same position, haha.... i'm in college also buddy. i have a notebook FILLED with mod lists, diagrams, all sorts of brainstorming and shit...
i'm an ocean rider and rough chop conditions very very often... it is not easy at all to devise a air intake for strictly cold air without risking water ingestion.

I have the best solution for big wave riding. Leave the stock intake alone. The only improvement I see safely for big waves is put a straight tube in the section by the motor. A straight round tube will flow more than a section square one.

I brain stormed allot when I did mine. This is what I came up with.
If you want NO chance of water injestion. This would be my opinion.
Leave the stock air box alone and run two 4 inch blowers in the ski.
One to bring in fresh air in the front under seat vent and the second to go out in the rear seat vent.
What this will achieve is allot cooler inside hull temps and allow your motor cooler fresher air to achieve more rpm's then stock, but still be water injestion safe.
WELL atleast if you don't leave the drain plugs out or have another failure similar to leaving them out.
You will see an improvement I promiss that.
Just my .02 cent.

The stock airbox sucks and won't allow you to build any big power. It has also been known to ingest water.
If you ride in surf and fear water ingestion the best thing you can do is get a Riva air intake and extend it out with hose up under the steering/glove box area. Remove the vent tube from in front of the seat to help get fresh cool air into the inlet area.
The red lines show how you should run the hose.

Now I get it, great idea for no water injesting + I am sure u will get cooler air up there
