    question on a 2005 yamaha GP800r caveating at 4000 rpm

    I took my ski out today and after going a short distance in no wake zone i wen to throttle up and it would fall on its face and vibrate the engine seemed to be reving fine it was like it was slipping like car clutch, any idea what i need to inspect or whats happening?

    Check the impeller to wear ring clearance with a feeler gauge. It needs to be tight. If you don't have a feeler gauge, a business card is about the correct thickness for a quickie check.
    Other then that, check to make sure you didn't pick up any weeds or garbage that is blocking the pump intake.

    everything seems to be ok, do i need to remove the plates to check for items that may be stuck?

    You should be able to look up through the intake grate with a flash light to look for debris. If you have an aftermarket intake grate you might be able to stick you hand up in there (engine not running of course)

ID:	301987 heres what i think it is, plugs but they are not the old maybe 8 hours in two years,,,any thought's????

    Spark plugs won't cause cavitation. Have you measured the impeller to wear ring clearance? It needs to be in the .010" to .015" inch range.
