I'm having some significant (10+ mph) top speed issues on my XL800...ski tops out around 38 mph, and the usual suspects like power valves and carbs have all been professionally addressed and are working fine.

I got a feeler on my impeller and wear ring and I'm reading a .02" gap. I know this is out of ideal spec of .01"-.014", but it's actually below the .024" guideline for service. The impeller itself has a few dings but isn't bent, chipped, or misshapened in any way.

My question is, is there any chance that this gap is leading to a 10 mph reduction in top speed from what others seem to experience on this ski?
