Project "JOHN DOO".... Options, options, options.....

Ok... I picked this 92 SeaDoo XP 587 up for $100 for shits and giggles WITH paperwork and still registered. The kid sold it to me because he could not get the starter to go and it does not charge the battery. He replaced the rectifier and the battery and no dice. So I know for a fact it needs a stator. . Anyway the engine moved to the compression stoke by hand and stopped. So I gave him his $100 and took it to my shop. In 10 minuets I had it running and in the water bombing down the lake.. Runs AWESOME!! Bought it back to my shop before the battery died. Ran a compression check and it has 150 psi in each cylinder. Turns out the stator is bad and will not charge, the starter would not go due to a loose engine ground. So I bought a new stater off ebay for $50. Now for the TOTALLY ugly.. He painted it JOHN DEERE green and yellow.. That's where the name "John Doo" came from.. So I'm wondering if I should find another hull to put the motor in or strip and repaint this one.. This hull has cracks on the gauge cluster and has been repaired after an collision. Thoughts??

For the 150 bucks you have in it, I'd leave it alone.

It woudl look twice as nice (or better put, half as fugly??) if the seat were recovered in yellow or green.

I would use appliance spray paint like i did on my cheap ski's...sand it down and probably put a few coats due to the color it is now. Comes out pretty nice and the paint is pretty tough..doesn't have any issues with gas/oil being spilled on it.
