    Oil Change "O" ring question

Just changed the oil on 2 of my friends skis, a 2008 215 , and 2008 255. I've done my own multiple times and never seen this. The 215 had both O rings on the cap. No issues. The 255 only had the large(thicker) O ring thats in the middle groove. Its only had its oil changed once before, (by the dealer) and hasn't leaked in a couple of years of running. (friend thinks 1year OR 100 hrs means 100 hrs) As I didn't have a new thin ring, I put it back without it, and started it up, and had no leaks. All seemed fine.

So did the dealer mess up the thin ring and just not put it back, or does it not really matter, as I said, I ran it for ~ 5 minutes and saw no leaks.

The thin upper is only a dust seal for the cap.

I thought I remembered reading that but wasn't sure. I couldn't remember from last fall if my 2010 had one or not. WInter was too long.

So IOW, not having that thin O ring is no big deal, and we can run the ski with no issues without it?

The skinny little red o-ring underneath the oil filter housing cap? Mine broke years ago on my first couple oil changes...I think I eventually quit using it. No leaks or anything with my 05 RXP oil filter housing.

This is what happens when you have a long cold winter with no snow for 2 years and Ski-Doo's sitting. You get brain fade, and forget this stuff.
