2011 Seadoo GTI 130 Oil Filter Cap

I was changing my oil and when I went to put the oil filter cap back on it didn't look like it seated right, I have no leaks am I missing something here? I have tried all sorts of things to get it to fit flush with no luck and I can see the top o ring a little.

When you remove the old filter, sometimes the old o-ring sticks. Make sure you're not trying to force 2 O-rings together. Good luck !!!

If you bent the cap due to prying on it then buy a new cap.
I've seen some very hard to get off caps that were bent.
Also make sure all the old filter was removed.
Sometimes the lower rubber on the filter sticks in the oil canister.

I didn't pry it or anything popped right off with a wiggle. I can just stick my fingernail in between now so after taking it off and putting it on for the 50th time I'm at least closer I suppose. I was thinking that the nut was some how preventing it but its up all the way on the shaft. There was nothing left of the old filter.

Thank you all for the previous replies, It is just unsettling I was almost certain that it was flush before.

Do you mean that the filter cap looks like it's not seated all the way down on the housing, as you can kind of see the top o-ring? If yes, both my 2012 skis were like that before and after I did an oil change recently, have a few hours on them since and all is well. My first oil change was performed by the dealer though, can't say for certain if it was always like that....

the top o-ring always shows. if the bolt is snug and there are no leaks..go out and have fun.

I don't see how this cap can be bent. it's cast and if anything, it would crack.

Kudos to BRP techs for fixing a long standing pet peeve of mine.

btw..if you have a 4-tec with a plastic oil cap, do yourself a huge favor and purchase a metal one ( actually, buy the complete setup off the 2012 models as the self ejecting cap makes the oil change a breeze on the later model skis.
