2001 Polaris virage tax carb 1200. bogs from start and only revs to about 5500

the jet ski has been sitting since 2008. I got it running last week and it ran great for a couple of hours and then when I went to start it again it began to run like crap. sometimes it will start, sometimes it won't. if it does start it is really hard to get going. it will idle fine for maybe 30 seconds before it does out again. I completely took apart the carbs last night and cleaned them all out. it still runs exactly the same. it will do about 50mph if you can get it going and then it almost sounds like it wants to go and the rpm's will kick up a little and then die back down. this is continuous if you hold out wide open. I changed all the plugs and all cylinders are at 124 and 2 at 125. somebody please help. any information about the ski you need just let me know.

Check for excessive vacuum or air pressure inside the fuel tank. Unscrew the gas cap, see if there is a major pressure release or suction. If there is, then check or replace the fuel tank venting check valves.

What entirely did you do to 'get it running"?

What spark plugs are in it now?

no vacuum at all. already tried that. there's no special way to start it, sometimes I gotta pull the choke and sometimes I have to just keep giving it fas and turning out over. and br9es. do you have any other suggestions?

    Bypass the LR-505 Start/Stop module.

Details via my signature links, or search on here.

One of the two fuel pumps may not be functioning properly, causing fuel starvation?

Fuel pumps are part of the carburetors, one each in front carb and rear carb. Together they feed to center carb.

Shitty gas? Well, you would have drained that out already, right?

When you cleaned the carbs did you actally use new OEM rebuild parts? Check and set the internal arm heights?

What about the rest of the fuel system? Fuel selector valve checked or replaced?

and no I did not use a carb kit. I just took them apart carefully just to see if any jets were clogged... should I just get a carb kit?

I assume you haven't completely clean out the carbs?
Drop in RPM can be caused by either too much or too little fuel. So your problem may lie in either fuel pumps not supplying enough fuel, or return constrictor is clogged and dumps too much fuel in carb.
Rebuild instruction is at link below, hope it helps:
