Anyone know Illinois laws regarding age requirements for a passenger?

My 13 year old son has his boating education card so he can legally drive a pwc by himself in Illinois. Can he legally have a passenger though? I don't see anything specifically about this anywhere.

My question is specifically about what the law is, not what anyone thinks about the idea. Nothing personal, I just don't want the post to get sidetracked.

Son has a girlfriend he wants to ride with.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, boating education card allows for under 16 to ride alone...but a passenger requires someone of 16 years old and drivers license, which to me is pointless if they don't have experience...

wow person under 16 can operate a jetski in IL. Here in MD you need to be over 16 and have a boaters registration card.

The can operate them at 10 with an adult on board.

But yes, a 12 year old can take your FX SHO to 70 mph here by themselves...legally. Scary ain't it?

BTW, were talking about cruising around at 25-30 max with Dad right there to supervise. I know things can still happen but I didn't want to give anyone the impression were letting him loose on the GPR and flying across the lake at 65.

I contacted Illinois DNR, there are no restrictions on passengers.

    That's scary...

    Huh?

The topic is regarding a 13 year old having a passenger. Nothing to do with towing.
