pet tach 2100dx question on yamaha fzr.

Is there a proper way to wrap the antenna wire from the tach to the plug? I basically just looped it around 3 times and tucked the end under the wraps so it would stay. It reads spot on to the stock tach but after around 3/4 throttle my tach is burried at 8k and the pet says 7600 and when im all the way on the gas I'm only getting around 79-8100 rpm when for sure I thought I was around 85-88 baced on the rate the rpms go up before 8k and the engine sound. Is my stock tach wrong or am I really only turning 7900.

Mine is wrapped around the top made a few Xs.
What are your mods, why do you think you would be at 8500-8900?

I figured if at 3/4 throttle the tach is pinned at 8,000 rpms that I would have at least 600 more out of the motor just by what the motor sounds like.

The basic mods that would effect the rpms are
R3 reflash c3 wheel custom intercooler with hks blowoff watercooled sc housing ribbon delete R&d plate n grate and a custom pitched Skat impeller

Do you know the pitch of the prop? You could be in the same position as me. R2 and B1 etc but only turning 8160 due to prop.

Also what setting do you have in the PET. I think it needs to be P: 42 or something like that. I will check mine when I go home later. I think that setting calibrates to ensure you are getting the correct reading.

i know the pitch and it was setup to what i was running, i dont think its the prop. I have the pet set on the first setting 1 cylinder 4 stroke because on 4 cylinder 4 stroke i only get the reading of the cylinder its on. Im going to be upgrading my wheel in a few days so im not going to mess with the pitch as of now anyway

If you only wrap it around one coil then p: 41 should work. This is what I use.
I wasn't saying to change your pitch, but more what is the pitch. That would/could explain your rpms. If you feel that you should be at 8500-8800 (that's anywhere from 600-900 more rpms than your tac reads) I would think you would be able to feel the pull/power between 7900-8800. Are you experiencing more acceleration between 3/4 and full? As I've been told multiple times if the prop isn't designed to turn more than X rpms it won't.

I personally don't feel anything major after 3/4 throttle, I've never really seen what RPMs I am at though when at 3/4.
