Fuel Rack finished for Moline to Mobile trip this month.

I have posted several times about this trip. I just had this rack made this week. I am either going to polish it or powder coat it. We are leaving on June 23 and hope to have some people on the forum watching for us and possibly even ride for a while with us. Check out the website at www.tothegulf.com Please donate something. it is secure thru PAYPAL and 100% of the money is going to Children's Miracle Network. Rich

    Thumbs up

Do your self a favor and fill all gas cans up and put some weight to simulate the cooler full of goodies and go for a test ride befor you start out on your trip just to be sure you ski is handling ok with all that much weight so far back on the rear. Also this will test the security of your mounting system. Ride some rough water to be sure you are good to go on your trip with this addition you have added. Tommy Jordan

Tommy, I am planning on doing that asap. It should be right at 210LBS or less, 32lbs for the rack, 160 lbs of fuel and 10-15 lbs of clothes and tools in the cooler. Are you thinking it may be unstable?

I supect it will handle a lot different and you might have a bad porpoise from all that weight on the back. You may find that the easest way is to try to put as much supplies ( the heavy stuff) in front to counter balance all the weight on the rear. Tommy Jordan

I can see the straps on the back, but how is it secured in the front?

I drilled into the ski and ran 1 5 inch bolt thru the top part of the hull on each side. It worked great and I just stick a rubber plug in the hole when the rack is not on.

Good advice here. I would also do a practice fill up with one of those gas cans on a less than perfect sea state. I think you will find out that it is harder to do than you expect! Nice work here and good luck. JB
