    First service

How much should a first service (10hr) 2012 VXR run? Isn't it a oil change and a look over? Or should I start saving$$

Thanks for feedback I just can't understand what justifies the $300 I heard its an oil change and just checking things like hose clamps ?? Does anyone know details of a first service?

Oil change, check hose clamps, check steering and reverse cables/rods, and grease them, check plugs and seems like there was more, but I don't remember what.

Do it yourself its nothing...The only thing you need is a decent oil extractor and you are good to go and its worth the investment since you will have to do oil changes every year or more.

Just double checked. 10 hour service cost me $214 USD. Out of that $50 was parts the rest labor.

As per page 84 of Owners Manual....

    Check Change Spark Plugs
    Grease Intermediate Housing
    Check throttle cable
    Check nuts n bolts
    Change oil

Good lord, mine will be $158.50 minus the free $25 voucher (total $133.50) from Yamaha for taking the satisfaction survey as quoted from the dealer when I picked it up. Same services as everyone else.

For about a $100 you can invest in the equipment to service your own machine. No hassle going to the dealer, save money and get familiar with your machine.

keep in mind that you cannot extract al the oil from a yamaha..only about half of it.

if you overfill it by being careless, spendin a couple of hundred at the dealer is going to look like a really good deal.

plenty of info here on what you need to do, and how to document it to protect your investment (and waranty)
