    Cam Shaft dinged up

I was helping my friend remove his head gasket and was inspecting a few things. I noticed that his camshaft was dinged up on the supercharger side. I am pretty sure this is not normal, but how could this have occurred?

More than likey SCer failure at one time. Ran ceramic crap thru engine.

when you say dinged up.. this may be a stupid question but are you talking about the center section where the cam locking tool goes into the camshaft?
as that is suppose to be like that as there just casting marks ..

Im a little blind but these are not roller bearing cams and if you are refering to the light Wear going on Im going to say It comes with the territory. Obviously some can be worse than others when people dont take care of there motors properly. IMO The cam looks fine unless theres a better pic showing something Im not looking at.

I just changed my cam after about 100 hours. It didn't have any of those marks on the cam or cylinder head cam bore. It does look very minor to me too. I would just be concerned, if the SCer had failed and the engine wasn't cleaned out afterward. Guys wonder why they throw rods, have oil pressure issues, timing chain failure most lead back to SCer failure or water injestion.

The supercharger has never failed before. Friend quickly replaced the ceramic washers with Riva metal washers.

Shrabber, I pointed out the ding/scratch marks with the yellow arrows.
