Thread: Ecm question...

Hey guys, I own a 2007 RXP 215 and fried my ecm due to my ski sinking. What other ecm is compatible or what are my options here as for a replacement. I don't want to buy new. Thanks!?

used ecms come up all the time around here at fair prices, there is some corss compatibility on the years, but one of the 4-tec gurus will have to chime in on that.
You will need to code a new key once you get the replacement ecm ( unless it comes with a key)

You are a bit limited to your options for used. The 420665785 ECU you have was a one year-only part, used in all the 215 HP models that year. The 2008-2009 420665789 will probably work, but you may need to change a sensor or live with some minor cluster differences.
I took a look at eBay and while there are none for sale right now, over the last month, 3 or 4 sold at prices ranging from $275 to $450. Maybe you should put an ad in the selling section, someone on here might have one for sale.
Regardless, as Pete says, you will need to do the following:
1. If the replacement ECU doesn't have a key, you will need to have one made.
2. You should have the TPS reset.
3. You may or may not need to change the settings (VTS, Compass, etc)
4. You will need to marry the ECU to the cluster

In addition, the cluster needs to be married to the model # of the ECU. In some instances, this can prevent your ski from starting.

Salt Water?? If so get rid of the ski. You'll be chasing down electrical demons forever

I have a 2008 ecu from my gtx 215. It is the 420665789. Just switched for an x-ecu.
To get it to work on your machine, all you have to do is to get your own key programmed at your dealership, get vts activated and the cluster married to the new ecu. Dealer charged me 40$ to get all that done, pretty easy.
Asking 350$ + shipping. Let me know.
