05-08 GPR's have no power valves and they have EFI.

    Other non-powervalve 2 stroke Yamaha's are: '98 XL1200, 2000-2004 SUV1200, 97-99 GP1200, or any year XL700

1200 PV engines aren't bad if you get the wave eater clips and either fix the oil lines before they go or make it premix. Those skis are fast, ride relatively well and will get we'll into the 100+ hours if taken care of. The Yamaha electronics are near bullet proof and exhaust system is too after the Dplate/ temp sensor. I would rebuild the carbs with the Osidebill (rip bro) specs and it will be an absolute beast.

thanks for the info guys.i like thr sound of efi and no power valves.we ran our gp1200r yesterday in rough water.the hull is designed well, cut rite threw the chop.
my question is are the 05-08 gpr's the same hull or better.we will look then up,but would like rider feelings.

The 05 to 08 hulls are the best GPR hulls Yamaha ever made. Know there is nothing to do to an 08 GP 1300 R, it was 2 stroke perfection @ its best when Yamaha decided to move totally into 4 stroke. There are still a lot of low hour 07 & 08's out there around $3500 to $4500. If you do nothing to them they will run in the 60's on reg gas. And are a blast to ride ! Good Luck

definitely a huge fan of the gpr hulls. I had an 05 gpr 1300 and thing was so much fun, imo the BEST looking couch hull yamaha produced. I definitely regret getting rid of it and want another one but i can't help but tell myself to just go 4 stroke when i do finally go to a newer ski. I enjoy the 2 stroke platform but for a couch i think ill go 4 stroke with a supercharger..
