`09~12 FZR up to Primary ID # F2R806400
`09~12 FZS up to Primary ID # F2C808500
`08~12 FX SHO up to Primary ID # F2S803100

Remember your 2012 ski serial # must be higher than this to have the latest gear /idler set.
That'll tell you whether it's got the new clutch in it or not. Others here will be more knowledgeable of what to look for on a used ski.

verify the warranty with a dealership before buying.

Ride the hell out of it on the test ride...
Get on the ground and slide under the ski to completely check the hull for damage and inspect the intake grate area for possible damage , also look into the intake grate area to inspect the impeller.

Check the oil for signs of water...
    Compression test the ski.
These are some of the things I look at with every ski I get..

Match the title to the skis vin.

    Rip on...

Serial # is located inside motor compartment on a sticker on the inside of the hull sides. Number on the back of ski out side on the right rear of the hull is the hull vin # they are differant ,Tommy Jordan

Great ski and really enjoying mine. The ID # is also on the storage container under the rear seat. Just pull it out and take a look. Maybe easier to do at the dealership. Make sure you're getting a good deal as its rumored that Yamaha may have something new out in 2014.

Bad News everyone went look at it. Everything looked great started up great. But all went south on the test drive the SKI would not go past 60mph and it took forever to achieve that speed and once it reach that speed it just bouced of rev limited ??? so I didn't bring it home

What was the max rpm on it? a 2012, should still be under warranty depending when bought and may be able to be fixed under warranty. If they are willing to negotiate the price, might work. If the rpm was at 7.5k plus, wasn't the supercharger. Might have been pump.
