Unusual high speed on 2005 stx12f

I have a 2005 stx12f and I was wondering about an unusual high speed reading for it. I have recorded 57.27 with a full tank of gas and 2 people on it (185 lbs and 135 lbs). The ski is completely stock. My question is, is this a higher than average speed for a 12f? With under a half tank and one person, 60 mph should be a number that is possible to reach.

No, but remember ... you are reading a speedometer that always will read high. That's why they are called Dream-o-meters. Get an inexpensive GPS ( under $100) check you speeds in all conditions one up or even 2 riders. You will learn the true speeds you are getting. Good Luck

That was with a GPS. It was reading 60-61 on the speedometer. I know they always read high.

Yes this is an unusually high speed for a 12F, a stock 15F would only be that fast with a full tank & 2 people on it, is this a ski you recently purchased or have had for some time? What kind of rpms are you running at speed.

I bought it about a month ago and put around 15-20 hours on it. It only had 70 when I bought it. The rpms are right around 7,000. I know it's 100% stock because the 2nd owner bought it from his father in law, and he bought it new. I thought the numbers might have been off, but it's only slightly off with the GPS. My girlfriend had it going 63 on the dreamometer a few times, but that's not accurate I know.

Is there any reason why the ski I purchased is faster than a normal 12f, and closer to the performance of a 15f?

I've used the GPS for other things as well and it is pretty consistent. Maybe it's just a freak motor like you said.
