    Help - genesis won't start

    I have a 1200 cc genesis w carbs.

Turns over fine, but no fuel to the carbs. The clear separator/filter has fuel in it but none seems to be getting anywhere else. I pulled the cutoff valve and it is functioning but is dry.

All original fuel lines where replaced years ago.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Check all the hoses, including the pulse hoses from crank case to fuel pumps on the front and rear carbs.

If you blow into the fuel supply hose, do you hear bubbling inside the fuel tank?

Ok... All the hoses seem fine. Yes on the bubbles in the tank.

I don't get it, plugs are wet, line to valve is dry.

I have spark at the plug but it won't even hit once.
    ???

If you crank it with all spark plugs out, does any liquid spray or heavy mist come of of the plug holes?

A tiny bit of mist blew out of the cylinders.

I blew out all of the lines and the damn thing started right up. I guess there was a bit of crud somewhere in the system.

    thanks for the suggestions!

Perhaps it is time for a new set of fuel hoses.

Consider also replacing or rebuilding the fuel selector valve. There are o-rings inside the valve which can leak air bubbles into the fuel feed suction when they get old.

Crud in the fuel hoses? Makes me worry about crud getting into the carburetors. Dirty carbs can burn down an engine by running it lean.

Good suggestion. The PO put in-line filters before the carbs, so that may have saved me. I'm replacing it all this weekend.

The stock fuel filter is a low restriction type, as I recall.

Use the stock OEM fuel filter and stock location unless you ave a specific reason to do differently. No need for additional flow restrictions in the fuel supply.
