    Broke an intake manifold bolt

I was installing new reed valves today. When installing the manifold to the case one of the bolts snapped off. Will it be ok to have one missing? I don't want to pull the motor just to get this one bolt taken out.

It will probably leak unless you use 1211 to seal the reeds and cover plate

Yup....but you need to get the bolt out at some time. You might not have to pull the engine if you have the right tool for extraction. Is it snapped off flush with the case?

Thanks for the replies. No it didn't break off flush. There might be enough sticking out to extract it. I'll try penetrating oil and vise grip. I guess it's not worth risking it. No riding today.

They have a screw extractor socket at Lowe's that I have used before..but I think you're gonna need a small one. It just grabs the exposed broken bolt and you ratchet it out in reverse. Spray some PB blaster in and around it and take your time.

I'm glad I didn't just go with it missing a bolt. Some PB, a lot of curse words and needle nose vise grip and I got it out. I was putting in Boysen pro reeds and an R&R jettech reed spacer plate when I broke the bolt. I got it back together and made it out to the lake. Wow the new reeds and spacer made a huge difference. More power at all RPM's.
