    Fuel tanks bolt size?

Does anybody know what size the bolts on the fuel tank are? I started to replace my stator and got the fly wheel nut off but am not strong enough to turen the fly wheel puller with a wrench so I need to remove the fuel tank.

    Thanks

    Tim

    What ski is this?
Just curious, wouldn't be easier to pull the engine to work on the stator?

    its a 97 SLT780
I already have the flywheel puller on, I just cant turn it anymore with a wrench. If I pull the engine I have to remove just as many things to get it out and I have no way of re-alining the engine without spending more money on renting a tool.

think you could get a pretty heavy impact wrench in there?

well I couldnt get to the bolts really for the gas tank so I just took a disposable map gas torch to it and was able to get it off with the wrench. So I didnt need to pull the engine or the tank.

Hopefully you didn't cook the front crank shaft seal just behind the flywheel.

Shouldn't of. I kept it moving and had it on only for a short time. My jugs have felt way warmer to the touch than the flywheel. I guess I will find out shortly though.

It doesn't seem to take a ton of heat to release the thread locker on the crank snout.

Drkvampire2001 I am going to the Dells this weekend other wise I would love to.
Sorry to say but I am fixing it to sell it. I moved out of the lake house and bought some land by Brooklyn. With the house and a baby now I have no time to ride anymore. My sister is at my old place so I am going to take it there and post it on craigslist, but we could try and get out some week night if you want before i sell it. Also I have a friend with SLX, an x2 and a 550 in madison and is always happy to go riding if you want.
