Can 93 octane be ran on the FZR?

Is it ok to run 93 octane on the fzr/sho engine even though it shows 87 only.

Using basic performance enhancements. Intake, ribbon delete, exhaust.

Yes but there is no advantage unless you are running a tune that is optimized or requires it.

I run 91 in all my power toys because that is all we can get in non-oxygenated gas here in MN.

As long as its a stock ECU and stock boost levels it's pointless. The timing curve is for 87. 87 actually burns faster than 93. So it would actually produce less power with 93 because the timing is set for 87. If the timing where advanced to take advantage of the higher anti knock value of the 93 then that would be a reason to run 93.

I do it for added insurance because you don't have a clue what you are getting octane wise in pump gas sometime and with a boosted motor I would rather have more than not enough... of course I haven't been stock and able to use 87 in a LONG time!

I run 87 octane (with 10% ethanol) in my FZR which has basic stage 1 mods. Never a hiccup.
