Bilge pump low voltage - virage tx 2000

    Hi,

My bilge pump will not work when connected to the internal wiring. The output to it is only showing up as 1.9v when engine running and 1.9v when I press the bilge pump button when engine is off.

I have tested the bilge pump by connecting it directly to the 12v battery and it works perfectly.

Everything else is fine, and I don't want to go exploring in the electronics until I know what I might be looking for!

    has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks from sunny Scotland (UK)

Where are you measuring this voltage? At the bilge pump connector, for both meter probes?

Yes, measured it at the plastic connector with a multimeter probe in each connector. Slightly different voltage today!
There is a residual voltage of 0.4v and a voltage of 2.4v when the engine is running or the bilge pump button is pressed.

My guess is that the ground connection for the bilge pump is not good.

Check voltage between bilge pump power and battery negative post. Is it much closer to full battery voltage when Bilge button is pressed, or still very weak?

    Problem solved...

...it was the fuse! The fuse in the main black electronics box had blown, but was making a partial connection which explains the odd voltages. New fuse and everything now works as it should.

    Thanks
