Thread: VTS question

What did any of you guys use to remove the large locking nut holding the VTS thru-hull fitting to the pump transom plate? It looks to be about 1 1/4" to me? This would also be step 9 on installing the rear exhaust kit on a 06' RXP. Thanks for any help.

Get a piece of 1 1/4" pvc pipe and heat the end of it up with a propane torch. While its soft stick it on the nut and let it cool.
You now have a cheap VTS nut removal tool

Another cheap alternative is a set of plumbers faucet sockets. they sell a set of six for 11 dollars at Home Depot. One of the sockets fits perfectly. And the other sockets will lead you to buy new faucets...
