    Shifter karts

I'm really thinking about buying a 125cc shifter kart for myself. I would like to maybe even give it a shot at racing it on the local circuit. Seen a few nice ones for around 3-4k. Just curious on maintenance and how fast tires burn up on them. Any ideas

ive been looking into it as well. I just recently found out that we have a cart track that is like number 7 in the world for shifterkarts. Rented some a few weeks back and it was awesome...

Ive read that the tires can last around 3-5 hard endurance races before they kick the bucket.

Aside from the normal maintenance stuff there isnt much to tinker on, racers are constantly tweaking there karts so maybe thats why there isnt a whole lot of info out there on the maintenance...hell of alot easier then our skis though LOL

Yeah I rode one while in Michigan at the NASCAR race and holy shit are they a blast. The little 125cc motors rip. we have a few tracks in Ohio close to me. Much cheaper than trying to hit 85 on an rxp

This is a great idea and should be a blast. I've been to a few races and walked the pits...I wouldn't say it's cheaper than 85mph.

Check the race schedules and stop by a track. You'll be able to walk the pits and see what goes on. I'm sure there will be people not too busy to answer questions.

1-trailer. I didnt see anyone loaded in the truck bed or even an open trailer. Most had a big trailer (four horse sized+ ).
2-gear. I good open cockpit helmet, fire suit, shoes, gloves, hans...will run $1-3k. Check here http://www.behrents.com/ the store is a mile from my work and one of my favorite places ever. They have an entire wall of fittings and can make custom SS brake lines
3-other. Tires, track fees, clutch and shock rebuilds, seat fitted...I have no idea.

Steach I plan on stopping at a couple races and getting some actual information from the horses mouths. Heck I'd even rip around my neighborhood until sheriffs came! Great way to get into racing as well if your young

Careful though...nothing opens the wallet quicker than the smell of race fuel and tire.

How was the race ? (beside the ass kicking you took in Hulk Cup)

Man it was amazing to see the race in person. Had some buddies with a friends bus so track vision awesome. Watched qualifying fri In the stands and what a hoot that was. When they let off n coast the whoosh is crazy. The party is out of this world. Still hurtin. Everyone's cool and made some friends. See all walks of life and no one is better than the guy next door. Saw more crazy shirt in 4 days then I have in 4 years. Nuts nuts nuts. I said it like this, nascar fan or not you owe it to yourself to attend this event one time. My six bottles of jäger didn't even make it to Saturday nite! It was fun to say the least and counting the days down! Lol

Nice were already talking actually today about finding a short bus and playing pimp my short bus! We got several tracks close by. Michigan Kentucky Indy500 poconos and martinsville and richmond. Will see how far out talks go. It's just too much fun and we got a ton of people interested in NASCAR amongst our friends. I took a beating last week in fantasy but will bounce back this week. This week no one will run away from anyone
