Polaris SL-750 1993 mint.... engine upgrade advice

My wife, has a 1993 Polaris SL-750 it has been in protected storage most of it's life. Still shines like new, looks maybe a year old at most. I still think it is one of the sharpest PWC'S ever made. Question.. stills runs decent, I know I'm going to have to perform a major overhaul to get it back to where it was considering how old everything is. Does it make since to keep the 750 as a base or will a 780 or something else fit in the hull. I would like to get it faster than when it was news.. Thanks NOHYPE

A 780 will fit but won't give you huge gains. I've gone through almost all of the bolt-on upgrades available to squeeze around 7 MPH out of a stock 750, including upgrading to a 780.....

    Post photos.

See my signature links for the common maintenance and upgrade items.

If engine needs to be rebuilt, that is a different discussion than just refurbishing the fuel system and refreshing various seals and hoses.

    It DOES look like new!

Is the inside as clean as the outside?

If I ever came across one of those in mint condition I think I would buy it, and make it run 70

It is hard to say my wife bought is used in 1995 the previous owner used it a few times then wanted a three seater. It does not look much different than when she bought it, I never thought it was really clean under there to begin with.. It still has the factory cover the pink and blue one..

I have a 93 SL750 like your wife's. Not quite as good as shape as yours, but still nice. When we bought it, it had a blown engine. My husband picked up 1995 750 cylinders and heads and put on it. The 95 heads have smaller combustion chambers, so more compression. Same as the 93 Storm heads (snowmobile). He also put on Ocean Pro flame arrestors, R & D speed plate and intake grate along with an extended pump with a six vane stainless steel stator. It runs about 55 on the dream o meter. We used it a lot for pulling tubes and knee boards until we got an SLTX.

We have another 93 SL750 that he will be putting a PSI race engine into. But that wont be for a while. He has 2 other skis for our daughters to finish first.
