First oil change could not remove the oil filter!

Some times simple things can be so frustrating. I took a week's vacation in Florida, my first time here in the summer! After I completed my post ride maintenance yesterday I decided to change the oil and filter as I am at 14 hours. I got my extractor out and removed the oil then went to change the oil filter and could not remove the filter, my cap wrench did not work, the band wrench was too big... I took a deep breath and decided to get up early and take it to the local dealer. I got there before the store opened, then talked to the service dept. I explained I was from out of town and only here for a few days, they told me it would be done the same day and would call me when it is ready, I figured I would loose a day on the water. (If it was the dealer in my home state it would sit for a week before they would even look at it!) as soon as I pulled up to my house I got a call telling me the ski is ready! Thanks to Aaron Foster at Destination PowerSports in Punta Gorda FL I was back on the water for a great ride today!

I will make sure to take the Channel Locks with me on my next trip, I hate paying the dealer for what I can do my self! At least I got my fist oil change completed and switched to synthetic oil.

    Thanks!

You used the kawa oem wrench (round) with a 3/8 socket short wrench attached stood and leaned in from left side under the engine turned counterclockwise and still couldn't get it off?...that's how the dealer got it offf I'm sure...

use the kn filter with the 17mm nut on top of the case to avoid future problems

If you can I would also try the ones that are rounded and a rubber one, I have had those teeth style bite through.

Yes as a last resort they work fine and really it doesn't matter if it pierces the filter atleast it's off it was jammed that tight

Theres more than one way to skin a cat...if the filter was punctured then I guess it was a tough one and he used more extreme measures....hmmm..
