Few Mods, Dealer Will Not Honor Warranty?

So I called the dealer today to make sure the ribbon delete, intake, and intake grate would be okay. They told me not to due the ribbon delete as it will void the warranty and urged against the other mods. I have the 5 year YES plan after the factory warranty runs out. Anybody else run into this before? I am going to check out another local dealer and see what they say.....

I had my clutch replaced under warranty with a ribbon delete, air intake and thru hull exhaust. The dealer knew about all of them and they honored the warranty.

I would have thought it would be no big deal. I am going to call our other dealer tomorrow just to see what they say. Just curious if anyone has actually had a warranty denied due to minimal mods?

Every dealer will have their own opinion. But, yamaha has the final decision. Seeing as how yamaha openly promotes Riva's stage 1 package on their website. I don't see how they could dis-approve. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/waverunn...189/all/1.aspx

Stage 2 and higher mods. Now it comes down to a cool/easy going dealer.

the ONLY way they can void warranty claim is if

the modification is DIRECTLY responsible for the failed part / claim item

eg a intake grate cant cause a fuel pump to fail or a piston to break

but if a intake grate insert fails then you might be in trouble because the AFTERMKT grate may have been installed wrong .... see were I am going with it

Depends on the dealer, shop around.
I had a dealer tell me this one time about Riva parts voiding my warranty,
(this was for Velocity Stack Kits on our old FX-140's)
but then they said if I paid THEM to install the mods it would be okay.

Show your dealer the bucking sticky and ask him if you get tossed by that stock intake grate will his dealership pay for your hospital bill...

If you read it more carefully, it states the stage 1 kit is for competition only, not recreational riding.

    For what it's worth.
