    SL650 Polaris... what's it worth?

I just picked up a Tigershark 770 Daytona today.

    Very pleased with it.

While I was there picking it up I noticed a Polaris SL650 sitting outside.

It has a blown motor and supposidly the people would damn near give it away.

    These PWC's worth a damn?

    For about a $7-900 rebuild?

Any decent resale or are they like a Tigershark?

Thanks alot for the help guys.

Blown engine and a lot of love. I wouldn't think it'd be worth much more than 200 bucks. You'll certainly get more money out of salvaging the parts than it's worth as a whole.

kinda cool! it has reverse! if it came with the trailer and a clear tile as well as all parts I'd pay 5-600 but thats just me! Z

How does it compare performance wise to a tigershark daytona 770??

The engine costs more to buy outright and it's a 3 CYLINDER vs. the TS's 2. Higher Rpms?

Not sure? about tigersharks but this craft is like 40 to50 mph top speed 6300 rpm's the one you found has the good jet pump and remember those parts are easy to find it is also easy to make it a 750 or 780!Z

Polaris are very interchangeable. Very simple to work on and they have a great ride for an older ski. I would buy it. Take the jugs off and see what shape the engine is in. If the block and crank are good, then finding a set of cyclinders and pistons are easy and not very expensive. I would also rebuild the carbs, update the fuel system, and plan on replacing the pump bearings and seals.

resale isnt very strong but i do think you could sell it for 1500 or so fixed up after about 30 hrs proveing time ,

personally i think the polaris is the one 2 fix up . it'll be more powerfull and faster an parts are easy 2 find with these guys ,

an just sell the t.s parts on ebay ,

becuase the sl650 parts out number the t.s parts by 1/300

iv seen more fuji 650/750/785 parts than domesitc 700/1050/1200 by a 1/4

I would say if you got it running, and sold it on Ebay in midsummer you'll fetch around $1400-1600 with the trailer no problem. It looks to be in good shape from the pic.

If you are looking to fix it and make a buck, I wouldn't bother. You could just sell the parts. If you are looking for a nice ski and a project to keep you busy I'd say go for it. Just buy it as cheap as you can. You might want to find out what the motor needs, if it needs a crank shaft it could be expensive.
