R&D transom plate question
i have an FX-SHO with riva 12 vein pump 160mm & liner also is 160mm
the liner matches the pump perfectly
but the transom plate is still at 155mm
is it ok to bore the transom plate to match the 160mm liner ?
and also if i bored the liner i think i need to bore the intake grate so it matches the transom plate
anyone who is reading , am i right on this ?

but what is the benefit from this ? better mid range and hook up ?
i wont lose any top speed ?

You will have less cavitation which will give better holeshot, but you will lose top speed. There is a good chance you will lose on the average of 2mph on top. It is a give and take with it. You will also probably have to repitch the impeller to increase rpm due to the added water. I have been on the fence doing mine. Especially since I just got done re-sealing it with the 5200 quick cure.

ISA, just use a 160 liner and a 160 impeller with a 155 pump and be done with it. I have been using that set up for years on my sho and many customers ski's and they rip out of the hole.
