Picked up a polaris trying to see it getting fuel. this is a SL with a rebuilt motor we started it in the garage maybe 5 seconds emptied the fuel cause it looked bad in the tank and also took the fuel out of the seperator cup. Compression was 100 on all holes. How do I know the fuel pump works any idea's??

Your compression seems a little low. Also, do you have the upgraded triple-outlet fuel pump? That upgrade prevents burn downs of the pistons. John Zigler, and Watcon, sells an upgrade kit.

I thought the same about compression but the numbers matched. Anyway was planning on the triple outlet pump but we bought this yesterday and dont have a pic or understanding on what the pump looks like.

That link I posted shows you what it looks like. You really need that triple outlet fuel pump upgrade. I still think the compression is a little low, even if they do match.

Okay, compression is good now. I've never put gas back in the seperator, it usually does itself after cranking a bit. From the looks of it, you don't have the triple outlet fuel pump. You need to get that upgrade, it saves you tons of money and labor in the long run.

So if it's not filling up right away or visually does that mean the stock fuel pump is bad?? And what is thisClick image for larger version.

The stock fuel pumps are very old and yes its probably not working properly. That is the engine overheat sensor (confirm me on this model), that should be connected to the square plate on the exhaust pipe.
