How fast should I be going??

I have a 2001 gp1200r. I have the following mods: High Output Pump, Pre-Mix, Cat Converter delete and I believe the rest is stock. I know I shouldn't be going crazy fast but my pump must give me some gain. I do have the 2" extension and dynafly prop. I'm 5'4" and 130lbs so I'm not going to be weight the ski down to much.

If it were a brand new 2001 with those mods, I would say 62-64. The impeller will help when the pump is sealed properly, but it will not be but about 1 mph. Cheapest speed I can think of for you would be to make sure that the pump is sealed properly, then get a R&D ride plate. Get an R&D intake grate for safety when your boat speed starts to approach 67.

Read up on these three mods, you will be happy with all of them.

If you want to see real gains, seal up the pump with a PPK, seal EVERY nook and cranny in the tunnel and add an R&D grate (seal around all mating surfaces). I gained 4mph with those 2 mods alone. On my XLT, my Dreamometer is tapping 62mph, which is 59-60mph on my GPS

I do have the PPK I forgot to mention that. I'll have to seal the intake grate. I will try and find a R&D used.

So here is what I have for now: High Output Pump, 2" extension, Dynafly prop, PPK, cat converter deleted, oil block off kit, and I have the intake grate sealed. I might also seal the pump shoe if I can get it off.

Will stepped sponsons help me much? Seems like it's pretty easy to do.

Stepped sponsons help to keep your boat more stable by reduceing porposeing in rough water. The less you bounce, the closer your rough water speed can get to smooth water speed (i.e. it helps speed in rough water only). The value in stepped sponsons is that you have a better ride in rough water at no expense.

It does nothing for smooth water speed increases.

I'll pass on that since I don't deal with big chop since I'm on a lake. My goal speed is 67 with no engine mods other then what I already have. Seems pretty obtainable. Will filling in my ride plate bolts help?

You need to get a gps and see where you are. Listening to people may help but you need to document what you're doing and what does/doesn't work for you. Guessing isn't the way to go. Not every ski is going to be the same even with the same mods.

My ski's currently awaiting a pump. I am going to GPS it Wednesday or Thursday and see how I'm doing.
