2013 VXR / depth finder / transducer mount

I've been going crazy trying to find info about where to mount the transducer. Some places said the nano hull was doubled, some say its not. Some say through hull doesn't work at speed on a jet ski and you need a transom mount. Lowrance said talk to the Yamaha dealer. They said (literally) "just stick it anywhere". Someone please help me out! I am looking at the Lowrance Elite 4 for through hull or Elite 4 DSI for the transom mount. Does the transom mount have to be at the very bottom of the hull or just where it will stay under water? I am mainly interested in a depth finder and navigation. The fish finder is an added bonus. The areas that I have been going have some really shallow spots that I would like to avoid, especially until I get to know the water! Thanks!

I have a 2012 carbon vxr and flush mounted my garmin to glovebox and mounted the transducer in the hull with silicone in the battery area it is accurate even with the nanoXcel hull garmin transducers are big may be cuz it's higher frenquency to penetrate through the hull better I'm sure you will be fine with the Lowrance Click image for larger version.

Is the flat end is facing the rear and curved end facing forward of the ski . Also is the silicone under the transducer for better connection and the reason for no bubbles to not mess up the feedback or is just on the side

The silicone is there to hold it in place, theres some on the bottom too ...some folks use epoxy, I dont as its a hard clean up if it ever come loose and have to reattach it....yes on the no air bubbles, trapped air reduces the signal ...flat end toward rear of the ski.....
