    Question D plate install

I have a 2006 gp1300r that i installed a riva d plate and ride plate and intermitently the engine temp warning comes on. The engine and exhast is not hot.i can put my hands on all the part in the engine bay.i`m in canada so the water is cool.should i put the riva cat removal sensor in it to. Why should the temp warning come on anyway.the engine is not hot?

If you installed the D-plate without installing the sensor replacement chip that's probably what's wrong. By all means, install the replacement chip and see if that solves your problem. If you have the chip it's worth trying, anyway.

That chip wont work for that year (for the hundredth time, again)

the chip (1K ohm) only works for 2000-2004

plug the sensor back in, or wire in a 2K or 2.2K ohm resistor

its the exhaust temp alarm that came on.this has only happend 2 times in 3 years.the last time i could put my hand on the exhaust no problem. it was not hot at all. turned the engine off.checked the engine and started it back up and the alarm did not come back on. could the hot exhaust be flowing to fast sinse the d plate and over heating the sensor?
