Removed rocker shaft and retainer, cam only moves a little and will not come out

I have removed the rocker shaft and the cam retaining clip but my cam will only slide tiny bit in both directions. I wanted to leave the cam gear on until it started to move but I don't think that's stopping it. What could be the problem?

The chain guide, chain tensioner and sprocket need to be removed in order to get the cam out.

OK the tensioner is out and the guide is out. It's not sliding far enough out to be hitting the cam sprocket but I'll remove it to see.

My worry is that it's somehow worn a ledge on something and will be next to impossible to remove.

Take the sprocket off and it should come out.

OK, with a little help prying from the other end, it did manage to come out. The bearings are wrecked. The outside thirds look like hell but the inside third is nice and smooth. Not sure what happened but looks like I'll at least be replacing bearings.

parent metal, no bearings, if the bores are scored, the head is more than likely junk
