    250x pump

Greetings, apparently not done needing help yet. I took the jetski out and to me it seems the more speed I gain the more the pump cavitates. I had a mechanic put the pump together with the improvs pump shaft. I then installed the pump myself. I only removed the ride plate for pump removal and installation. I did put silicone back on it. Pump was torqued to specs. Any ideas? Pump was not in great shape but no chunks missing or anything like that. Thanks

Did you install the rubber ring that seals the pump to the pump shoe? It sounds like you're sucking air somewhere and is gets worse with speed.

Ya I put the rubber seal on, I know I may be thinking too complicated but is it possible that the moving impeller is too far away from the stationary impellers with the new shaft and bearings?

are you saying the prop moves forward and back in the housing? mate how many bearings did you install in the pump? two pressed into housing or one, plus one pressed onto the rear of the shaft. is the shaft machined for two bearings or one.

I am hoping the mechanic installed both front and one rear bearings. I haven't pulled the pump out yet but I will let you know what I find. I am not sure if the prop moves in or out just was wondering if there was a way the mechanic could have installed it wrong and the prop is too far from the stationary impeller.

Well 3 years later and I finally find the time to get the jet ski back together. When I dropped it off at the mechanic he said the pump had mud blocking it off.

Fast forward to today. Took it out again and sure enough it has no problem going into the redline as it is accelerating. It feels again like it isn't gaining traction. There was no mud this time. I'm going to pull the pump out tomorrow but am wondering what all I should look for. Like what should the clearing be between the blades and the diffuser? On the bright side the engine sounded fantastic.
