    Rebuild question

Went to reinstall my rebuilt engine and came across a question. On top of the drive shaft housing (not sure of proper name) there is a 1/4" nipple fitting. What is this for and what connects to it? Pretty sure it's not oil. Water wouldn't seem to make sense either?? Desperate for answers.

It's a grease fitting for the driveshaft bearing.
