Need a little help on cleaning out debri from intake grate

Hey guys went out today and the water was fully of leaves and pine needles from the high water levels. I feel like I live in Seattle more than I do the Carolinas these days with the rain. Anyways I am thinking I might have sucked up some debris because the it runs fine at low speeds and under 3k but after that it there is hardly any propulsion and revs. I am planning on taking off the intake grate tomorrow and trying to clean it. I have never done anything on the ski like this on the ski so far so just wondering if yall had any tips. Can it stay on the trailer while doing it or not? Also do I need to take the pump out or just the grate. I don't think I need to take off the ride plate but Ive never done it before so give me some insight on what you think and whats the best plan of action. Thanks

    What type/model/year ski?
Grab a flashlight and look from rear into pump, then crawl underneath and look through grate. If there is debris, you'll see it.
Personally, if there is debris, I would remove the pump, inspect the wear ring (I replace is any gouges/scrapes are found) and dig out the trash. Also, you can get a very good look at the edges of the impeller too (might have dings).
    Good luck!

Pulled the pump wasn't a hard as I thought. I found there was a 1x1" piece of bark on the impeller. Wear ring was in good shape and went back together in no time. Thanks for the help Mothman.

Usually if I suck anything up a pressure washer will make very fast work of it.
