As awesome as the SLR is to begin with I can only imagine what it's like once Brabus get's their hands on one...
Did you really pick one up? If so I am an extremely envious individual and congratulations. Just try not to go too fast...It looks like the only thing it's lacking for being flight capable is a set of wings...

Actually it has a wing, an air brake deploys when you brake hard.
But I am not overly impressed, it's still an automatic, nothing in an Enzo or a Zonda's league.
And especially nothing in the Mc Laren BMW F1 GTR's league.
Most test drivers describe it as a stretched SL 55 with a fixed roof.

I'll take a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari 430, or i'll settle for a new Z06 vette.

I know it is not in the f1 class of car...Not much in the planet is...Accept an actual f1 racing car...But it sure is a nice car..
Racing flix .com has a video of a show that tested the f1 @ top speed...The show was called top gear....
I also have a video of an actual f1 racing car....Chasing down and beating 2 mercedes on a track in england...After he gives the 2 cars a full 2 min. head start...

Yeah, I too realize that from a performance standpoint there are several bigger players on the block but for what it is the SLR is a tremendous vehicle.
Mercedes has never promoted it as the end all and be all of performance vehicles but only as the "cat's meow" of tourers which it is...
Preach all you want about Ferrari but for my money I'll actually take a vehicle with torque any day not to mention the Mercedes reliability and rock solid build...And just the fact that Mclaren is involved as well...The SLR from the factory is a world class everything (not the best at anything but excellent in all categories) so I can only imagine the WOW factor once Brabus turns up the performance wick a little bit...
I would buy one of those over the Carrera GT (sp?) or the Enzo anyday...In truth I'm not really fond of the styling of any of the 3...I did see a yellow SL55 AMG on the road the other day that I thought was beautiful though. I would prefer it over the drop top SL65 as well...

no no no
When I am talking about the Mc Laren F1 GTR I am not talking about a F1 class race car, I am talking about Mc Laren's road car, back in say 1994 or 95.
It had a 637 hp BMW V12 and weighed only 2200 lb...

Gordan Murray's masterpiece:
Gold lined engine bay, and every other exotic and hybrid material that could have been imagined at the time (and still today to some degree). I think that thing was more high-tech than the space shuttle at the time it came out. Quite impressive...Especially when you consider that car's are still trying to top it today (I realize the Koenisigg (sp?) took it's top speed record but still)...
I think Ralph Lauren has 3 of them...
I think the BMW M6 with the M5 motor is going to be quite impressive...not on the same leauge as these vehicles discussed here but still remarkable...
The Veyron is like a battering ram on roids...Everything about that car is almost too much over the top...

But the Veyron has broken many records already. From super high speeds under hard braking it's spoiler deploys at a sharp angle and acts as an air brake allowing it to decelerate at more than 2 G's. The porsche carrera can't do 2 G's in any direction. The amount of thought and engineering gone into that car is rediculous.

The Veyron is an awesome car but like the SLR it's more of a car designed for the people who can pay for it when the Enzo and F1 are meant for people who can drive.
