    1999 Polaris STLX idle adjustment.

Just picked up a 1999 SLTX that runs fairly well when hot but idles like a pig and dies at idle a lot when cold. I've had a quick look at adjusting the idle mixture but what tool do you use to adjust the center and rear carb mixture screws? Is there a special tool? The ski was not used for almost four years any tips and ideas on some good maintenance I should do on the fuel and associated systems to avoid problems later on would be appreciated.

See my signature links for lots of useful info.

Rebuilding the carburetors and replacing the fuel hoses should be at the top of your to-do list.

Thanks for the reply. From my experience with two stroke outboards carb overhauls are always worth it. I had planned on that.

pay attention to the sync of the linkage between carbs.i like to open the mag carb to a set position using the lowest port opening as a visual reference.then set the cen and then the pto.i've seen polaris keihin triple carbs go from not idling to idling all day long by doing this
