    My Fish Finder Battery Box

I received an email last week asking me for more details on how I built my fish finder battery box. Its a simple and can be done with parts from your local Wal-Mart and Home Depot. The box i chose was from the sporting goods department at Wally World in the camping section. The grey backing is fatigue mat foam. It was the perfect thickness to give me a just right fit.

If anyone else has pictures of your setup, please let me know. I'm always looking for ways to improve my fishing system.

I would suggest color coding the wires inside the battery box. Black for Negative. Wrap the negative wire in black tape or slide a length of black heat shrink tubing over the wire.

And put a piece of red tape or red paint next to the positive battery terminal. That way you have double the clues for getting it hooked up correctly.

If you add a marine grade waterproof wire connector to the wires just outside the box, you can unhook it and then connect to the charger without even opening the box. Perhaps a Deutsch or Weatherpack connector, which have polarity correct indexing so it cannot be plugged in 'backwards'. Then create another cable from your charger to mate with the battery box connector.
