Best ride plate for the Money? FZR

Looking to upgrade the ride plate on my FZR. I am a lake rider and want something that is going to improve on smooth water from stock but make the ski faster in the rough as well. I have read a lot about the Jims VXR plate but they are too pricey for me. I would like to stay under $300. I also saw the Farthing plate that advertises to do what I am looking for but I haven't found much results/reviews on them.

From what Ive read, the Farthing plate is a good one to have. Next would probably be the R&D plate.
The VXR plate is good for flat water, but I hated it in the chop.

Ive been happiest with the stock plate. It's not the best for top speed, but it does good in chop. Best of all, it came free with the ski.

I'm very happy with my Farthing plate, put the R&D back on while I was up at the lake last week and lost over 1mph, it was a little less planted on turns and a bit hoppy at WOT in both choppy and smooth. I tried it both with and without washers back to back and don't plan on running the R&D again, it's a good plate but the Farthing turns better, rides through the chop better and is faster in all conditions. The R&D will be for sale cheap shortly.

Yes, it was faster in both conditions regardless of shim or not on the R&D and handles better, I run the stock shim plates with the Farthing.

Check the classifieds section on here or eBay for used plates if you're looking to save money. I purchased my R&D plate for $150 used in like new condition. Took me from 68.1mph to 70.6mph with no other changes to the ski. Trim all the way down with the R&D sponsons (up), R&D rideplate and R&D grate combo and the handling is excellent in my opinion. Also with the trim all the way down on the R&D plate and I don't think it's much worse than the stock plate in rough water conditions.

I wanted to try the Farthing plate for the FZ, but I got the impression it was a disaster with regard to fit and delivery time. Have they ironed all that out, and are they shipping and fitting in a reliable way?

Sounds like they may have gotten the fitment deal sorted out. Id really like to try one sometime too.
