    2005 Ultra 150 running terrible

Just dropped a completely rebuilt motor from PWC Engine in my Ultra this past weekend with rebuilt carbs and will only run on #1 cylinder.

Plugs are wet, lots of spark. Pulled carbs off and double check everything and all looks great. Tested coils as well and everything is to spec.

While starting it backfires and only runs on one cylinder.

    Stressed !!

    Which cylinder is firing?

Where did you get the rebuilt engine from? Did the rebuilt engine come with the flywheel/magneto already installed, or did you have to swap that off the old engine?

The front cylinder is the one that is firing. I sent the long block to pwcengine.com in NY and they reinstalled the mag and coupling.

If you have wet plugs but there is spark, you are either getting way too much fuel or you could have broken reeds. Double check your carbs again and make sure everything is right because this is the most likely cause. Put some new plugs in if you haven't already. Make sure you have the leads connected right too because it fires twice so it could run on one cylinder if you have the leads wrong.

It should be a simple fix.

    Good luck.

Just pulled intake and inspected carbs and reeds and all are within spec. Had some fuel in the bottom of crankcase that I cleaned out.
Still backfiring and running only on the front cylinder.

    My guess is the carbs

If there is fuel laying in the case then that would point to a carb issue.
Are you sure the oil lines are connected to the right ports?
Was there equal amount of liquid in all 3 areas of the case?
Are the fuel lines hooked up correctly to the fuel pump? Supply/Return not swapped?

If you are 100% the leads are correct (kinda hard to mess them up though) you need to double and triple check those carbs. It must be "pumping" fuel in so fast for it not to fire. Check compression too. If for some reason they haven't put the rings on correctly the low compression will also make it too rich and not fire.

    1) I double and tripple checked the oil line connections.
    2) The spark plug leads are all correct as per checking the manual.
    3) The compression is between 150 and 145 all the way across the board.
    4) There appeared to be small amount of fuel/oil mixture in the front cylinder (the cylinder that will fire up) and 1-2 ounces in the second and third cylinder.
    5) All fuel lines are correct with a new fuel filter and pulse line is in the correct position.
