dess key barely registering
50% of the time i put my dess key on the post on my 96xp, it doesnt register anything. My key is very old, haven't ever been replaced. I'm going to get a new one. Should I also get a new post along with the key?
Anyone who has had experience with this or changed them please let me know what you think.

Key could be problem, but most likely dess post. Not hard to replace. New one will have four wires instead of 3. You don't use the black w/purple on your ski.

Thanks, Can I buy a new key and dess post together that are already registered to one another? Or do I have to register the post to the computer in the machine and the key to that post? Not familiar with the process.

Key has to be programmed to boat. Post doesn't get registered. Just to key to mpem. So if you bought both, once installed key would have to be programmed to boat.

Clean off your connection points with a q tip and some alcohol. I've actually had that work on a couple of skies that. Thought were dead.

Thanks for the advice. I will try the q tip and alcohol trick. If that doesn't work I'll replace the key and post. I have a guy who does the programming. Good friend of my dads so it won't cost me a fortune.
