Buying 2004 RXP converting to RXP-X??

So I'm buying an 04' RXP in about 2 weeks. It's the Candy Apple Green I was looking for, and has 129hrs on it. I'm going to drive it like I stole it for the rest of the season, then I'm upgrading some things. First thing I'm doing is upgrading the steering to the RXP-X steering. Would this be hard to do? Also, I'm thinking I would like to do just bolt ons. Would I be better off upping the horsepower to 255hp? What would I have to do?

    X Supercharger
    External Intercooler
    42# Fuel Injectors
Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator or ECU Flash
    15/20 4 Blade Solas Impeller

You should strongly consider changing the valves to 08 or newer. The older ones are known to rust from sitting too long without being used. The flywheel bolts are also a known weak point on the 04-05 models.

Sounds like a pretty mild build. I will probably buy used OEM parts. I don't really want to touch the valves without needing too. How will I know if they need attention? I was planning on doing the fly wheel bolts.

I'm currently doing a similar build on an 06 RXP. Adding a through hull and bov as well. 06 and older have the 72's that are prone to failing.

I'm looking at the specs on riva and it doesn't seem to do much better in the speed category? Looks like bolt ons might be the better way to go? The steering will be the first thing I will be doing as I really like the X steering and finger throttle.

That's a ten year old motor and don't know the history, be pro active before you grenade EVERYTHING.

Is there a way I can tell if I need to do the valves? I might do them as a winter project or just pass.

Supercharger was just rebuilt and has the 200hr kit in it. If he doesn't have paperwork I will pull it and inspect it.

not trying to rain on your parade, but as i read through your thread it reminded me of this recent post in the classifieds. it would be a bummer if you dropped a bunch of money on mods only to pop a motor...
