99 GSX only has spark while start/stop button is pressed.
I am trying to figure out what would cause the ski to only have spark while the start button is pressed????? The ski runs, but as soon as you let off the start button it loses spark. I replaced the start stop switch, tested the stator and pick up coil, checked all the connections at the mpem and the rear box and battery. Battery is new and has over 12.5v.
How i narrowed it down to loss of spark vs running out of fuel is i hooked up a spark tester and when i let off the button it loses spark. If i press the button again before the engine stops turning it will spark again.
Its a 951 limited.

You are improving MPEM ground through solenoid? YL/RD and BK at switch and solenoid. Bad ground connection or corrosion in ground wire to MPEM? You have continuous spark when button is depressed engine turning, not a single spark when released?

Sorry man, I was thinking the rear electrical box had its own ground when I typed that. We have limited internet access at lunch and I hurried to post because I liked the answer. I don't like it so much now.
Did you try swapping the MPEM with a known good one?
