It's possible on smooth water with and intake grate, modded stock ride plate, ribbon delete, intake and exhaust modded.....you'll be all over the rev limiter with your stock impeller, but you may reach 70 mph like this. Most guys repitch their stock impeller and can get 69-70 mph with the above mods.

And some be making chit up

Getting to 70 is pretty easy. It's getting past 70 that gets tough

If my only concern was to get top speed as cheaply and easily as possible and not increase acceleration or handling, I would do this:

Install an aftermarket tachometer (I think Jerry sells/recommends the R&D)
Ribbon delete (doesn't matter which one you use)
Pull ride plate, remove stock spacers, add two fender washers to rear bolts

Go take a test run with half a tank of gas on smooth water using GPS to see what your real speed and RPMs are. Find out what the air temps where when you made the run, preferably the barometric pressure as well as elevation. Depending on your results at that point, you'll either want to repitch your stock prop or get a Skat.

Caveat: If you are riding at 1000+ elevation, it will be tougher to get speeds. If you are at or near sea level, it's going to be easier. I ride at about 520 elevation and gain a solid MPH every time I go ride at sea level.

Fender washers ? 2 per side at the back two bolts and how thick are they, and delete the factory shims

They have them at most hardware stores. Yep, 2 per side if 70 is your goal.

What does the No Spacer +2 Fender Washer set up do to the overall handling?

It takes away the hop (porpoising) on smooth water that starts about 67-68 MPH. The stock spacers make it worse. If you pull those and add one fender washer to the rear bolt, you can get to 69 MPH or so before the hop. Two washers will get you past 70 MPH. It's just trim really, putting the nose down a fuzz.

Once you hit the hop, you can't go any faster on GPS. So you have to dial back to the hop to the speed you want achieve. After market grates will also help with this, but they reduce top speed some. So if top speed is your goal, they may be something you don't want.

Personally, I like my Riva grate. It slows me down a solid MPH on glass, but gains me everywhere else. I like a balance of speed, accel, hookup, cornering. I have to give away 1-2 MPH on glass to get that.

Or you can do like Jerry and get a Riva grate with a Farthing plate, add 17lbs of boost and eat a sandwich while doing 92 MPH down the bayou
