2000 GTI Blowing 5A fuses
Just finished getting this back in the water the rear electric box was 1/2 of water. Put a new ignition coil in. "Walked up" the electrical path because we still weren't getting anything from lanyard. Replaced the bad connection in the rear electrical box and stuff started working again. Ski was in the water one week, friend of son took it out and I think over revved it. Dead in the water towed back in. Now it is blowing 5A fuses. When I connect the Connector #1 to MPEM it chirps. Have read about a bad "diode" causing this. I am looking for input as to the best way to proceed. There was a small amount of water in the hull when it was towed back in. I have checked rear box it was dry as a bone. No signs of water in or around MPEM. Brand new battery thought I mention it.
Is the diode the next step on the MPEM? Or replace the MPEM? I would rather try the diode first as the MPEM is a little pricey. Thanks in advance.

The diode you hear of is inside the MPEM on the board under the potting. Sounds like you need an MPEM.

Check all your connections. I'm wondering if your main lead arced or your ground is loose and did the same. Might want to replace that ground while your at it...Water could have been a culprit as well.
